Champagne Déhu Père et Fils was founded in 1787, and Déhu family has run this maison for 8 generations in Fossoy - Vallée de la Marne. The 8th vigneron Benoit Déhu returned to home from Bolliger in 2000 and begun to change vineyard management and wine making towards natural direction. Finally he produced "Cuvée de la Rue des Noyers V11" from 100% Pinot Meunier from biodynamically farmed 1.7ha and released with his own label and this only 2400 bottles special cuvée didn't take much time to be discovered.


Benoît Déhu's La Rue des Noyers is a 100% Pinot Meunier from a biodynamically farmed 1.7 hectare plot in Fossoy with dark limestone soils. Fermented and aged for ten months in used 228 litter barrels but with "no malolactic, no racking, no filtering, no cold stabilization and no fining," says Benoît Déhu, when he presented me his wine at the presentation of the Origines Champagne group in Château de Pierry earlier this year. Benoit Déhu V14 Cuvée La Rue des Noyers Non-Dosé is bright, powerful and tightly wound. A wine of energy and vibrancy, the 2014 is going to need at least a few years to be at its very best. Even so, its potential today is evident. The Meunier character is pronounced, but it is the wine's salivating minerality that gives shape, focus and cut. What a gorgeous wine this.
