Trinchero is one of the three Barbera specialist who can make "Grand Vin" by this casual grape variety. (The other two are Giacomo Conterno and Bartoro Mascarello) Since the beginning(1920's), Secondo and Serafino Trinchero had believed great potential of Barbera and wines have been produced like top Barolo or Barbaresco. Today the winery is being inherited to Renato and Ezio.

The winery is located in Asti and the vineyards has been managed without any chemicals since 1920's. They used to own around 50ha before, but Ezio had sold 40ha and kept only 10ha to focus on quality.

Vigna del Noce Barbera d'Asti Superiore is the top cuvee and this parcel(Noce) was planted in 1929. The yield is no more than 35hl/ha, Ezio gives 45 days maceration during fermentation and 30 months(at least) ageing in large botti before bottling. Vigna del Noce is intense, complex and dense. The wine can last more than 20 years normally. Terra del Noce is another Barbera d'Asti Speriore and it has same feeling with Vigna del Noce yet much smoother and easy-going. Trinchero is also producing best Grignorino in Piemonte.
