[2023 Vintage]
Dear Professionals and Enthusiasts,
We are pleased to offer the new vintage 2023 from Christian Moueix in Napa Valley. As you know, for the 2022 vintage Christian Moueix made the decision not to produce Dominus, Napanook, and Ulysses. In the past he also chose not to produce the 1991 Château Pétrus, 2013 Château Hosanna, and this shows his uncompromising attitude toward quality: in years when the grapes harvested are not sufficient to make the very best wine, he simply does not produce it. The long-awaited 2023 vintage has now been released!

Press Review
2023 Dominus
[100 pts - Lisa Perrotti-Brown] The 2023 Dominus is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. Opaque purple-black in color, it slowly unfurls to reveal a powerful core of blackcurrant jelly, ripe black plums, and fresh blueberries, followed by hints of menthol, crushed rocks, dried sage, black truffles, and black olives. The full-bodied palate is both generous and energetic, displaying an impressive array of savory and earthy nuances among the dense black fruit layers and a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and beautiful tension, finishing with epic length.
[99 pts - James Suckling] Black currant, pencil shaving, subtle sandalwood, wet earth, forest floor and violet aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate with ultra-fine tannins that integrate perfectly at the end. A polished and caressing texture that goes on for minutes. The balance and drinkability of this Dominus is terrific, and it will age beautifully. A blend of 87% cabernet sauvignon, 9% cabernet franc and 4% petit verdot. From organically grown grapes. Very drinkable now, but will age beautifully.
[97 pts - Jeb Dunnuck] The 2023 Napanook is composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it strides confidently out of the glass with bold notes of black cherries, warm cassis, and tilled soil, giving way to hints of wild sage, graphite, black pepper, and underbrush. Full-bodied, the palate delivers a solid backbone of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness to back up the muscular black fruit layers, finishing long and earthy.
2023 Napanook
[97 pts - James Suckling] Aromas of blueberries, ash and stones with hints of blackberries, orange peel and chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with medium-round tannins that are polished and velvety but always in check. Cedar and baking spices like nutmeg on the palate. Lovely soft and silky texture with a long finish. Enchanting and delicious. 92% cabernet sauvginon, 4% cabernet franc and 4% petit verdot. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold.
2023 Ulysses
[97 pts - Lisa Perrotti-Brown] Deep garnet-purple colored, 2023 Ulysses Cabernet Sauvignon comes barreling out with notes of warm cassis, black plums, and boysenberry preserves, followed by hints of violets, cinnamon stick, and forest floor. The full-bodied palate is vibrant and pure with a fine-grained texture and a racy line to support, finishing long and minerally.
[99 pts - James Suckling] This is evolving beautifully, with aromas of blueberries, limes, sandalwood, cedar, black currants and a hint of cardamom. Medium- to full-bodied with totally integrated tannins that melt into the wine and give it a structured presence, framing and an endless center palate. Best Ulysses ever? Cabernet sauvignon with touches of cab franc and petit verdot. Drink or hold.
[97 pts - Jeb Dunnuck] The reserved plushness comes out clearly with brightness, focus and very creamy tannins that give it muscle and tension. Juicy and flavorful but not overdone. Energetic and flexing but in a friendly way. Plums, milk chocolate, terra cotta and nutmeg. Almost all cabernet sauvignon with a touch of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Give it four or five years to soften. Try after 2028.
