In Burgundy, fine wines are fundamentally based on a single vintage and a single vineyard, so wines made by the solera method can only be classified as Vin de France or AC Bourgogne and are therefore seldom seen. However, Marc Soyard releases 600 bottles each year of a Chardonnay produced by the solera method.

Acte II is composed of five vintages: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022.

In the case of Sherry, the solera system is used to minimize differences in flavor between vintages and to maintain consistent quality. Marc Soyard, however, is said to have adopted this method not for uniformity, but to downplay the influence of the harvest year and instead highlight the characteristics of the vineyard itself.



In 2013, the city of Dijon purchased 160ha of land with winery facility called Domaine de la Cras, including vineyards of 5ha of Pinot Noir and 3ha of Chardonnay which are classified as Bourgogne AOC. Vineyards are expanding little by little and it is 11ha in total in 2018.

Domaine de la Cras appointed a young talented wine-maker Marc Soyard as a chief wine-maker/estate manager since 2014 vintage. Marc had experience in Domaine Bizot(Vosne-Romanée) as a vineyard manager and had worked with Jean-Yves Bizot closely for 6 years. He has brought Bizot's simple and natural manner to Domaine de la Cras. He farms vineyard organically(biodynamie) and vinification is executed by indigenous yeasts and without SO2.
