The letter from the winery.
-------------------------------------
2025 is a vintage as we like it, with an ideal balance between acidity and maturity.

No frost, a mild spring, and vegetation that developed without stress, as if adapted to the rhythm of humans. June was exceptionally hot, July cooler, before the return of high temperatures in the first half of August. There will really be two styles of Burgundy wines in 2025; we should absolutely not generalize.

Some winegrowers started the harvest in mid-August during the hot weather. They were afraid of heavy rainfall and excessively high sugar levels. The result: the obligation to cool the wines and to chaptalize; grapes as hard as stones and simply not ripe yet.

Others decided to wait for the rain, which always ends up arriving at the end of August, and to harvest in early to mid-September. And there was a lot of rain! The grapes acquired more juice, the skins became thinner, the flesh softened… In short, a very beneficial effect and perfect ripeness in the end. Patience was essential.

As for new developments this year, the return of the Saint-Romains, both white and red, from the Sous le Château climat, and a small cuvée of Beaune 1er Cru Les Theurons. We produced small volumes; there will not be enough for everyone.

Our historical supplier of Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Damodes has transferred his domaine, so we no longer have this appellation. We are forming a new partnership for the appellation Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Brulées, which we hope will last.

As you can see, even if we no longer take part in wine fairs and social events, things continue to evolve and change in Saint-Romain. New projects are driving us. We have just planted vines around the winery, a project that has been close to our hearts for a long time.

Fred and Laure
