Domaine Gerard Schueller is located in Husseren Les Chateaux, a few kilometers south-west of Colmar, Alsace. Gerard and Bruno Schueller work on 7 hectares. Bruno Schueller joined wine-making in 1982. They own land on Grands Crus that are split between Eguisheim and Husseren-les-Chateaux, namely Pfersigberg and Eichberg. However, the most interesting terroir may be Bildstœcklé. This lieu-dit is within the commune of Obermorschwihr, the southern neighbour of Eguisheim.

Today
Bruno Schueller produces around 25 different cuvees every year. And tailoring of each cuvees are different every year. Bruno brings out maximum potential of combination of grape variety, terroir and weather of each vintages. As a result, style and taste of same wine(same grape variety from same vineyards) is not a same every year.

The wine from the vineyard of Grand Cru Pfersigberg. 2012 was released as Grand Cru, but 2013 and 2014 were not given name of "Grand Cru" by INAO due to its extreme uniqueness. Then Bruno Schueller released those vintages with "Le Verre est dans de Fruits" labels. Bildstoeckle is one of the flagship of Gerard Schueller as well as Pfersigberg and Eichberg. 2013 Bildstoeckle Riesling is now ready to drink. Amazing balance between fruits and mineral. Extremely pure, solid and complex.
Masterpiece of Bruno Schueller. Bildstoeckle is one of the flagship of Gerard Schueller as well as Pfersigberg and Eichberg. 2014 Bildstoeckle Gewürztraminer is dense, complex, deep,thick and fresh. Purely concentrated fruits(lychee, peach, passion fruits, apple...) honey, and robust acidity are integrated at the high level. Vivid, great capacity, gorgeous wine.

Everything is in Bruno Schueller manner - all the Schueller freaks certainly love this style. Pinot-Blanc 100%, sharp but gentle acid, pure fruits, mineral. Delicious now, but this IIIKL can age for many years.
Pinot Noir "LN012" version. Detection of extremely low SO2 gave the name to this cuvee(12ppm/l). His cuvees often have satirical name. Non-filtered and non-fining, so wine is cloudy and contains sediments and tartaric acid(normal for Schueller's wine). Aroma of Strawberry jam. Lovely Pinot-Noir from Alsace. Natural Brandy made from Riesling. Very tiny production. For the Schueller freaks. Schueller's Pfersigberg 2012 was qualified as Grand Cru Alsace. - As a result of ultimately free and sincere wine making of Bruno Schueller, this cuvee is often unqualified by INAO as AOC Grand Cru Alsace. Very dry, mineral and complex. The wine has begun to be integrated and ready to drink now. It has great ageing potential of course. Bruno Schueller's Pinot-Gris 2012 was released as "Reserve". Intense, impressive aroma is almost like whisky or sherry.  Dry, mineral and complex. One and only style "Pinot-Gris" in the world.

The icon of Vin Nature does not produce Vin Nature.


Gerard and Bruno Schueller has managed their vineyards by biodynamie and never used herbicide nor chemical fertiliser for several decades, but they do not have intention to apply for the formal certification. Although Bruno is very open and positive to share his experience and philosophy with other sincere producers, he does not belong to any group or association.

Bruno Schueller is very independant-minded and says their wine-making must be free to make the wine they want. He prefers to stay free from strict frames of biodynamie, and keep flexibility to adapt to different situations to make best wine.

Bruno says “I don’t think that I’m producing Vin Nature. Because wine cannot be born spontaneously. Collaboration of artisanal elaborateness and nature creates high quality wine”. Rather he prefer to call his wines as "Vin Libre". Nevertheless the wine of Gerard Schueller is definitely a model of Vin Nature. Bruno makes wines with minimum intervention. Zero or a minimum of sulphur is added during the vinification, the primary fermentation is allowed to reduce the residual sugar to a bare minimum, and Bruno opens up for malolactic fermentation. The result is characteristic, golden, aromatic wines with superb purity, dense, lively, and dry finish with profound minerality. - Drink it with an open mind.

The wines are not always in line with what is seen as typical for varietal wines of Alsace. In fact sometimes the wines of Bruno Schueller do not pass the sensory tests of INAO. However, this does not seem to worry Bruno. Tiny volume of his wines are in great demand from the most advanced enthusiastic drinkers and he is adored by many of “vin nature” producers all over the world.
