It is made by blending Chenin Blanc primarily from crescent-shaped vineyards (from which the name La Lune is derived) with Chenin Blanc from other plots. It is the standard cuvée of La Ferme de la Sansonnière. Although it has withdrawn from the AOC, it is regarded as an exceptional wine that embodies the unique character of the Anjou region. La Lune is a wine that can be enjoyed immediately after release, but like the other cuvées, it has the ability to age for several decades.
|
Among the several plots, Les Fouchardes is a vineyard that can be called a true treasure. From the old vines planted in 1970, a dense and smooth, pure wine is born, woven from rich fruit flavors and minerals. The wines are aged for two years in barrels before bottling. This means it undergoes an aging period one year longer before release than La Lune. However, that does not mean it is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Its true value is revealed only after several more years of bottle aging. If you are fortunate enough to acquire a few bottles, we recommend drinking one first to gauge the optimal drinking window, and then carefully aging the rest.
|
Another Chenin Blanc wine is Les Fouchardes Monopole. These Chenin Blanc vines were planted in 1970. The wines are aged for two years in barrels before bottling. The 2018 vintage has 4.9 g/L residual sugar. The yield is 18 hl/ha, which is extremely low as usual.

This rich yet translucent, treasure-like wine is produced from an astonishingly low yield of only 17 hl/ha. It is released after aging for one year longer than La Lune. However, that does not mean it is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Its true value is revealed only after several more years of bottle aging. We believe that this 2017 Les Fouchardes Monopole is currently (in 2025) reaching its first peak.

This pétillant naturel is made from a blend of Gamay, Aligoté, and Pinot Noir. Whole clusters of Gamay are fermented with maceration in the pressed Aligoté juice for one week, after which the Gamay is pressed. This method, called “Flottaison,” was pioneered by Daniel Sage in Ardèche. The Aligoté comes from all the Hautes Côtes Aligoté parcels of Domaine Chanterêves, harvested during the first picking (the second picking grapes are used for the respective Aligotés), and the Gamay comes from a 15-are parcel located in the village of Fussey.
The lovely label was drawn by Tomoko's cousin, and Matsuri means 'festival' in English.
(Please keep the bottle upright and chill it well before serving to avoid gushing. Handle the bottle gently and uncap it slowly.)

Domaine de Chassorney Pommard 1er Cru Les Pézerolles 2022, which was remarkably good. This is also unusually seductive wine for the Pommard, completely different from the typical descriptions found in wine books (having a tannic and robust structure and taking time to reach its drinking peak...). Perhaps the 2022 vintage suits the characteristics of this appellation well. It has a thick, soft, and glossy texture. The tannins are certainly abundant but sweetly ripe. The aromas and flavors are complex yet harmoniously integrated. The terroir's characteristics and the vintage's personality are gently refined by Aurélien Verdet’s exceptional skill. It is delicious to drink now and clearly will improve with aging. This is a wine that should be placed at the high on the shopping list right away.
The wine produced from Pinot Noir vines over 80 years old, planted in clay soils, is dense and smooth. The vineyard is located near the border with Beaune, on the mid-slope.

Le Ronceret is a lieu-dit bordering En Champans. This Le Ronceret is located to the north of the other Chassorney's Volnay 1er Cru, Les Lurets, with Les Aussy (also a 1er Cru) lying between them. Although their elevations are almost the same, the character of the wines produced differs. The wine produced from Vieilles Vignes over 70 years old planted on 0.29 ha tiny plot is highly concentrated and rich in tannins. It has a fine texture with a refined and robust structure. Over a few years, its density will increase and its edges will soften, resulting in an exceptionally thick and silky wine of the highest quality, we believe.
Like Saint Romain Sous Roche, it undergoes 100% whole-cluster fermentation with semi-carbonic maceration in a stainless steel tank. Unlike Frédéric Cossard, the aging process has been changed from egg tanks and qvevris (used from 2018 to 2021) back to old barrels. It has become a supreme, authentic Burgundy, combining intensity and softness.
|
The lieu-dit Les Lurets consists of both 1er Cru and Village-designated parts, and this wine is produced from the 1er Cru section. It borders the 1er Cru Les Cailleret and is located south of Chassorney’s other 1er Cru, Le Ronceret, with Les Aussy (also a 1er Cru) lying between them. Although its elevation is almost the same as Le Ronceret’s, the character of the wine differs. The wine has a fine, silky texture and is softer and more transparent than Le Ronceret. It is enjoyable to drink now, but with a few years of aging, it is expected to develop a more airy character while retaining a dense core. The grapes come from a small plot of less than 0.3 hectares planted with 65-year-old vieille vigne.

Unlike Frédéric Cossard, the aging process has been changed from egg tanks and qvevris (used from 2018 to 2021) back to old barrels. In Burgundy, there are several 1er Crus that rival or even surpass Grand Crus, and knowledgeable enthusiasts diligently collect such wines. This 1er Cru Les Monts Luisants is one of those wines. The lieu-dit “Monts Luisants” forms part of the Grand Cru Clos de la Roche and is adjacent to the Grand Cru Latricières-Chambertin. It is easy for anyone to imagine that this is an excellent location. The genius judge of vineyards, Frédéric Cossard has been purchasing grapes from this vineyard for many years, and those grapes are crafted into wine with a genius winemaking sensibility. This is one of the highlights of his series of red wines from Côte de Nuits, such as Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny.
|
This wine is made from grapes from the lieu-dit Voitte, located on the lower part of the slopes extending toward the 1er Cru Clavoillon in the center of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Depending on the vintage, the label may indicate the name Voitte, but in 2022, since a small amount of grapes from the 1er Cru La Garenne was blended in, the label simply states Puligny-Montrachet. The grapes were harvested early to preserve acidity, which proved effective, resulting in a wine with considerable volume that is well balanced without any heaviness or dullness. Indeed, both the red and white wines of 2022 are outstanding. The vinification and aging are carried out in egg-shaped concrete tanks introduced after the removal of wooden barrels, expressing pure fruit flavors and aromas.
|
The Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Damodes, born from old vines averaging over 60 years of age, planted on 0.3 hectares, has long been crafted by Frédéric Cossard. The lieu-dit Les Damodes is adjacent to Aux Boudots and lies on the border with Vosne-Romanée, very close to the golden zone that stretches from Aux Malconsorts to La Tâche. The lieu-dit is composed of both 1er Cru and Village classifications. The vinification and aging carried out in egg-shaped concrete tanks have brought out the pure fruit flavors and the delicate expression of the terroir with even greater clarity. Like Vosne-Romanée and Morey-Saint-Denis, it is a popular label forming part of Frédéric Cossard’s Côte de Nuits red wine series.

From the lieu-dit Les Gollardes, located in the northwest part of the appellation. Frédéric Cossard took over this plot from a friend and has been managing it since 2007. The vineyard area is a mere 0.43 hectares, with an average vine age of over 60 years. Aurélien Verdet completed the harvest of Pinot Noir in this lieu-dit in 2022. It was the latest harvest for red wines.
This cuvée is particularly notable for its differences from Frédéric Cossard's style, being thicker and juicy. The wine is elegant, and like Saint Romain Sous Roche and Volnay, it also benefits from long-term aging potential. The wine undergoes 100% whole-cluster fermentation with semi-carbonic maceration in a stainless steel tank. The aging process is conducted in traditional old pièces (228-liter barrels), resulting in a flawless, classic Burgundy.
|
Jean-François Ganevat, a friend of Frédéric's from Jura, helped him find a source of high-quality grapes. Frédéric Cossard treated those healthy grapes using his manner and produced vivid wines. "Feel Good" is made from Savagnin. The label cannot include "Savagnin" if the wine was vinified outside of Jura, even if it is classified as Vin de France. Therefore, Frédéric named the wine "Feel Good", using the initials F for Fred and G for Ganevat. The wine is made from grapes from vines over 50 years old. It undergoes carbonic maceration using special tank equipment for nine months.

Grapes were sourced from 25 years biodynamic vineyards in Alsace. Aged in egg tank. (*Back label says the origin of grape is Jura, but it must be Alsace)
|
Frédéric Cossard established Domaine de Chassorney in 1996 and spent 15 years perfecting this 1.4-hectare vineyard, gradually increasing its precision and cultivating it into one of the finest in Burgundy. After a three-year transition period, Aurélien Verdet took over the vineyard in 2022. The old vines, with an average age of over 70 years, produce wines that are like pure essences.
The difference from Frédéric Cossard is that the aging process, which was previously done in egg tanks and qvevris (2018 - 2021), has been switched back to barrels (old barrels), a method that Cossard also used until 2017. Given that Aurélien Verdet is known for crafting restrained and elegant wines, it seems that the merits of Sous Roche are being more directly highlighted as an authentic Burgundy wine. What is clear is the wine's potential for long-term aging.

[Mature Bottle Release] Clos de la Bergerie inherits same style of Coulee de Serrant as well as Vieux Clos. Contains Botrytis too. Clos de la Bergerie is the richest among three cuvees with honey-like stickiness. Gras coats your mouth, seductively sweet, and long finish. This is the wine for pleasure.

[Mature Bottles Release] Les Vieux Clos inherits same style of Coulee de Serrant as well as Clos de la Bergerie. Contains Botrytis too. However Vieux Clos is not merely an entry level of Nicolas Joly's wine. Every three cuvees have different characters and size, yet same concentration. Les Vieux Clos has slightly larger-meshed texture than Coulee and its easier to match wide range of cuisines.

This is also different from the Super Pink of previous years. This must be the character of the 2022 vintage! The color is pale, but it's so dense that you can feel the viscosity. It has a pleasant bitterness like pink grapefruit, and also a flavor like peach. The sweetness of ripe fruit, which becomes especially noticeable in the latter half, blends together into a feeling of bliss, like a tropical cocktail. In the South of France, the Cinsault grape variety is often used for rosé wine, but this is the first time we've had a Cinsault like this.
