In Burgundy, fine wines are fundamentally based on a single vintage and a single vineyard, so wines made by the solera method can only be classified as Vin de France or AC Bourgogne and are therefore seldom seen. However, Marc Soyard releases 600 bottles each year of a Chardonnay produced by the solera method.
Acte II is composed of five vintages: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022.
In the case of Sherry, the solera system is used to minimize differences in flavor between vintages and to maintain consistent quality. Marc Soyard, however, is said to have adopted this method not for uniformity, but to downplay the influence of the harvest year and instead highlight the characteristics of the vineyard itself.

Unusually for the Côte de Nuits, the lieu-dit Les Monts Luisants produces a small amount of white wine. Les Monts Luisants Blanc, the first release from Frédéric Cossard, is made from Chardonnay grown in the highest part of the vineyard. The rich fruit is supported by bright acidity and minerality, and as with Cossard’s other white wines, it is expected to require several years to reach its ideal drinking window. Production is limited to around 400 bottles.

Bigotes 2023 has dense fruit, pronounced minerality, and vibrant acidity. These are all on a grand scale and finely defined, making the wine feel fresh in its own distinctive way. We feel that Frédéric Cossard has become more skilled in his approach to vinification and ageing without using barrels.

A cuvée made from Riesling supplied by a friend in Alsace. Although the details are undisclosed, the grapes come from a Grand Cru vineyard in northern Alsace. Ripe, rich fruit character with a well-balanced interplay of acidity and minerality. Unlike the typical Riesling wines made by producers in Alsace, this one carries Frédéric Cossard’s signature style—fresh and vibrant.
Under INAO regulations, wines made in Burgundy from Riesling cannot display the grape variety on the label. As a workaround, Frédéric Cossard came up with the name “Rafling.” The word “Rafling” means “raffle” or “lottery” in Danish—a witty wordplay combining it with “Riesling.”

Also new in 2022 is UGM Qvevris, a blend of Ugni Blanc, Grenache Blanc, and Muscat. The blend of these grape varieties is familiar in the Rhône, but Frédéric Cossard's unique sense of style shines through here as well. It has a significant volume, but the beautiful acidity gives the wine a three-dimensional quality and lifts it. A vibrant wine full of colorful fruit. The label expresses the image of a gentleman from the north, wearing a scarf, experiencing the southern sunshine.

The 2020 vintage is well matured today; it's the perfect time to uncork.
Immediately after opening, it emits bouquet and has quite a soft impression, but as time passes, it gains freshness and lively tension. People often describe Cossard's wines as Vin Vivant, and indeed, this Bigotes 2020 truly embodies that.

The 2021 vintage Bigotes is a dense and highly refined wine pressed from a very low yield of 25 hl/ha. Citrus fruits, primarily lemon, delicate minerality, and clean acidity bring the whole together in harmony.

This wine is made from grapes from the lieu-dit Voitte, located on the lower part of the slopes extending toward the 1er Cru Clavoillon in the center of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. Depending on the vintage, the label may indicate the name Voitte, but in 2021, since a small amount of grapes from the 1er Cru La Garenne was blended in, the label simply states Puligny-Montrachet. The vinification and aging are carried out in egg-shaped concrete tanks introduced after the removal of wooden barrels, expressing pure fruit flavors and aromas.

The rich, fruit-filled juice intertwines with acidity and minerals. The unique soil of this area is a blend of limestone and marl, including patches of clay. Chardonnay here is characterized mainly by citrus fruits, including lemons, but especially in 2023, the fruit is well ripened, showing sweetness and volume in the flesh rather than a crispy freshness at this point. Over time, as the wine takes on a yellow hue, its contours will become clearer. The great 2023 vintage, along with the latent energy of the Vieilles Vignes on the upper slope, averaging 60 years old (with some over 90 years), will fully demonstrate their true qualities.
