Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix = JPM, is a Bordeaux négociant house founded by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1937, situated in Libourne. Jean-Pierre Moueix retired in 1978 and died in 2003. In 1991, his son Christian Moueix became president of JPM while his grandson Edouard Moueix joined the company since 2003.

JPM is famous and respected as a specialist of right bank among wine-professionals. Exclusively or major part of top chateaux (ex : Lafleur
, Gazin etc) are distributed by JPM. Besides, JPM owns and produces Trotanoy, La Fleur Petrus, Hosanna, Lagrange a Pomerol etc.

Especially, their old vintages have premium value. They have stored all the wines in the cellar in Libourne in perfect condition. Then wines are released after several years (sometimes after several decades). The direct allocation from JPM is considered as the best way to buy old vintages of right bank wines.

Chateau Petrus was managed by Christian Moueix since 1971, but in 2008 he stated his intention to distance himself from Petrus, limiting his role to that of a consultant.

Christian Moueix also owns the vineyards in Napa California, called Dominus Estate and Ulysses Vineyard. These are recognised as top California wines.

Like Trotanoy, though of course not to the same extent, the 2019 Belair Monange is another of the richer, more powerful wines in the Mouiex portfolio this year. Offering up aromas of sweet cherries, wild berries, vanilla pod, plum preserve, warm spices and cedary new oak, it's full-bodied, broad and muscular, with a deep and layered core of ripe, sun-kissed fruit that's framed by lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins. Made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Belair Monange rolls effortlessly out of the glass with gregarious scents of black cherry preserves, stewed plums and boysenberries, plus suggestions of Indian spices, rose oil, Ceylon tea and garrigue, with a waft of tilled soil. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Wonderfully hedonic and conceivably drinkable now, give it 4-5 years in the cellar to allow the earthy/savory nuances to fully emerge from within the fruit and drink it over the next 25 years or more. The 2019 La Fleur-Pétrus dares to outshine Trotanoy this year, wafting from the glass with aromas of rich berry fruit, plum preserve, dark chocolate, cigar box and spices. Full-bodied, rich and enveloping, it's broad and layered, with beautifully polished tannins, a ripe core of fruit and a seamless, enveloping profile. This is an elegantly muscular, generous Pomerol whose sumptuous personality reflects the warm, dry vintage. RP96

The most powerful wine in the Mouiex portfolio this year is the 2019 Trotanoy, a rich, muscular effort that is also unusually open out of the gates for a young wine from this estate. Offering up aromas of cherries, dark berries, cedarwood, rich spices, sweet soil tones and creamy new oak, it's full-bodied, deep and textural, with a lavish attack, notable concentration and plenty of ripe tannin that asserts itself on the youthfully chewy finish. The 2018 Trotanoy is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It slowly unfurls to reveal a jaw-dropping perfume of Black Forest cake, black raspberries, blackberry pie and kirsch, followed by hints of cast-iron pan, violets, woodsmoke, Chinese five spice and eucalyptus, with a waft of tree bark. The full-bodied palate explodes with exotic spice and mineral fireworks, grounded by a concentrated, black and red berry preserves core and framed by firm, grainy tannins, finishing with epic length and depth. The 2019 Hosanna has turned out well, exhibiting opulent aromas of sweet berry fruit, plums, spices and creamy new oak. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's broad and enveloping, with supple tannins and an ample core of ripe, generously extracted fruit. Hosanna is the most dramatic wine in the Mouiex portfolio this year, as is often the case. RP95

The 2018 Hosanna is composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose needs a bit of swirling and coaxing before it soars from the glass with compelling blue and black fruit scents of blueberry pie, blackberry preserves and stewed plums, plus hints of spice cake, unsmoked cigars and violets with a touch of cloves. The full-bodied palate shimmers with opulence, laden with black fruit preserves layers, supported by seductively plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and oh-so-spicy. It is very tempting to drink now, but 3-5 years of patience will offer a little cerebral tertiary contribution to all that decadent fruit. It should easily cellar for 25 years thereafter. RP96+

The high point in the Mouieux portfolio this year is the 2019 Latour à Pomerol, a terrific wine that wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, rose petals, cigar wrapper and loamy soil. Full-bodied, ample and concentrated, it's seamless and layered, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a vibrant, beautifully balanced profile. RP94

Made of 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Belair Monange is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. With a little swirling, this baby comes bounding out of the glass with energetic notes of wild blueberries, Morello cherries, baked plums and black raspberries with wafts of Indian spices, lavender, garrigue and tobacco plus a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied, the black and blue fruit dance playfully on the palate with fantastic freshness to lift the bold flavors and a superb frame of ripe, velvety tannins. It finishes very long and with amazing zing. So tempting to drink now, but make no mistake—this is one for the long haul! RP98

Medium-bodied, it completely fills the palate with vibrant red and black fruit layers, framed by a firm backbone of grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing long and perfumed. RP97+, WS95-98

The 2017 Trotanoy is 100% Merlot and begins quite stubborn and broody on the nose at this youthful stage, needing a lot of coaxing to reveal a core of plum preserves, blackberry pie and licorice with suggestions of cast-iron pan, underbrush, tilled soil and charcoal. Medium-bodied, the palate is not at all weighty, but it is built like a brick house, with bags of restrained, muscular fruit and a solid line of firm, grainy tannins, finishing with epic length and fantastic tension. A very impressive wine that should by incredibly long-lived! RP97

One of the undeniable superstars of the vintage is the 2015 La Fleur Petrus, which is 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. This awesome wine builds with time in the glass and shines just as much for its purity and elegance and richness and power. Boasting a deep purple/plum color to go with thrilling notes of tobacco leaf, currants, licorice, and subtle oak, it has a multi-dimensional, layered, elegant, and full-bodied style on the palate that just begs to be drunk. Nevertheless, it needs 5-6 years of cellaring and will keep for 2+ decades. It’s a sensational wine! JD97,WS95-98,95,RP96

The 2014 La Fleur Petrus is impressive out of barrel and it continues to evince quality now in bottle. It has a lovely, engaging bouquet with vivacious redcurrant and cranberry fruit, superb mineralité and energy, real focus and a sense of drive in situ. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a sense of symmetry and poise from start to finish. It has perhaps turned into a slightly more elegant and feminine wine than I anticipated, less bullish than the Hosanna. But there is real complexity on the finish with black pepper and clove lingering on the aftertaste. This is superb. RP94,WE95,WS94

Composed of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Belair Monange has the most singular nose of grilled meats, smoked game, iron ore and fallen leaves over a slowly unfurling ripe fruit core of crushed black plums, blackberry preserves and cassis with fragrant touches of star anise and potpourri. Full-bodied, rich and opulent in the mouth, the palate reveals an arresting backbone of exquisitely ripe, very firm tannins and sparks of background acidity lifting and defining the rich, densely packed layers, culminating in an epically long and multifaceted finish. Possessing its own compellingly beautiful signature, this is a remarkably riveting wine that should not be missed. RP98+,WE97,WS96,95-98

There's gorgeous purity here, with cassis, loganberry and raspberry fruit carried by a lightly brambly feel, giving this more weight and grip than previous vintages. The chalky thread is there and really extends through the finish but is easily absorbed overall. Ends with lovely bergamot and rooibos tea notes. Best from 2022 through 2035. WE96,WS95,94-97,RP92
